State Geological Programming Board

The State Geological Programming Board has been constituted primarily to coordinate activities on geological exploration in the State. Directorate of Geology acts as the nodal agency and organisations like GSI, OMC, CGWB, CMPDI, IBM, AMD, IMMT, MECL and GWSI are participating organisations. Besides drawing up priorities among various geological investigations and exploration of minerals in different parts of the State, the board is also assigned with the task of making recommendations on the policy of Government of India in the geosciences sector. The Secretary, Department of Steel and Mines acts as the Chairman of SGPB and Director Geology acts as its Secretary. The regular functioning of annual SGPB Meeting (recently initiated to be held twice in a year) has resulted in the fruitful implementation of the plans and programmes set up by the State and Central Governments to achieve the requisite objective and provide strategic direction to the geoscientific activities.
